What is BlogPromilaj?
BlogPromilaj is a series of articles explaining what alcohol does in the body, with sources. What we write, how we write it, and how you can contribute.

Why a blog like this?
While building Promilaj we noticed something: people know a lot about alcohol, but most of what they know is something they heard from someone else. “Drink water and it goes down.” “Coffee sobers you up.” “Eat bread and it won’t be absorbed.” “Take a shower, you’ll be fine”… These are all things said around a table, with nobody ever asking for a source. Some are partly true, most are not, and a few are exactly the opposite of the truth.
That is why BlogPromilaj exists. A place where you can read the knowledge behind the app without having to download the app.
What we write about
The articles revolve around a few themes:

- Myths — Going through “do this and you’ll sober up” claims one by one. Water, coffee, exercise, sleep, cigarettes, food. Which one helps, how much, and which one does nothing at all.
- What happens in the body — How alcohol is absorbed, where it is distributed, which enzyme breaks it down, and how fast it declines.
- Why everyone is different — Why the same glass produces two different outcomes in two people. Weight, height, sex, age, body composition, genetics…
- The science behind the app — What Promilaj calculates and how, which formula it uses, what its margin of error is, and what it does not claim.
How we write
We have a few rules, and you can see them in the writing itself.

- Every claim has a source. The scientific claims in our articles rest on studies published in peer-reviewed journals, and we link to the study inside the article. You can check them — we would prefer that you did.
- We don’t write what we can’t verify. If we have a claim but cannot tie it to a real source, that sentence leaves the article.
What we don’t write
This blog does not give legal advice. We do not cover legal limits, penalties or legislation.
And no article will ever contain a sentence like “wait this long and then you can drive”. Not on the blog, not in the app. Promilaj is an estimation tool; it does not measure anything and it never tells anyone that they are fit to drive.
You can write here too
BlogPromilaj accepts contributions from outside. If you have written a piece on the physiology, metabolism or pharmacology of alcohol, its behavioural effects, or the science of measuring it, you can send it to blogpromilaj@gmail.com. We read every submission and check its sources one by one. If we decide to publish, we may edit for wording and structure; if a change would affect the content itself, we ask you first. Pieces we accept are published under the author name you choose.

What we are looking for
- A topic on the effects of alcohol on the body, its metabolism, its measurement, or the common misconceptions around these subjects
- Between 500 and 1500 words, in Turkish or English
- A source for every scientific claim — a DOI, a PubMed link or a direct link to the paper
- A text written by you and not published anywhere else
What we will not accept
- Legal commentary, analysis of legislation, penalty calculations
- Promotion of a product, brand or service
- Texts containing claims without sources
- Content written by artificial intelligence and left unchecked
- Content that encourages drinking or driving, or steers the reader towards risky behaviour
- Pieces expressing subjective opinions on political, religious or any other matters
Submission terms
By sending a piece to BlogPromilaj, you accept the following terms.
- You confirm that you are at least 21 years old. To write content about alcohol and blood alcohol levels, you must be over 21 — an age above every legal drinking age in the world. This condition protects both you and us.
- You confirm that the piece is yours. You accept and declare that the entire text was written by you, that it does not infringe any third party’s copyright, and that it has not been published anywhere else. You are responsible for obtaining the permissions needed for every text, image, table and dataset you quote.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the content. The accuracy of the scientific claims, data and citations in the piece is the author’s responsibility. We check the sources before publishing, but that check does not remove the author’s responsibility. In any legal claim arising from a published piece, responsibility rests with the author as the party who created the content in question.
- No payment is made. BlogPromilaj is not a paid writing programme. We charge you nothing for a submitted or published piece, and we pay you no fee, royalty or other consideration. Publication of your piece creates no claim to payment, past or future.
- You grant permission to publish. By sending us your piece, you grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free and transferable licence to publish the text on BlogPromilaj and on Promilaj’s social media accounts, to quote from it for promotional purposes, and to create images from the content. This licence is non-exclusive — you keep the copyright to your piece and may publish it elsewhere whenever you wish. In that case we ask you to credit BlogPromilaj as the place of first publication.
- You choose the author name. Published pieces carry the author name you give us. You may use your real name, your professional title or a pen name. The email address you write to us from is never published under any circumstances.
- We may edit. In pieces we decide to publish, we may edit the title, wording, punctuation, structure and formatting. If a change would alter the meaning of the content, we ask you before publishing.
- We give no guarantee of publication. We make no commitment that every submission will be published. If we decide not to publish, we tell you why. We also reserve the right to withdraw a published piece without giving a reason and without prior notice.
- Requests for removal. If you want your piece taken down, writing to blogpromilaj@gmail.com is enough; we will act on your request within a reasonable time. Please note that the same timeframe may not apply to social media posts and search engine records created before the removal.
- Your personal data. The name, email address and any other information you share with us are processed only to evaluate your submission and to contact you; they are not shared with third parties. If you want your data deleted, you can write to blogpromilaj@gmail.com. Our Legal Documents page has the details.
- Published pieces are not medical or legal advice. No article on BlogPromilaj — including our own — constitutes medical advice, a diagnosis, a treatment recommendation or a legal opinion. The views expressed in the articles belong to their authors and may not reflect the views of FOvibe.
- Content we do not consider. We will not consider texts that encourage drinking or driving under the influence or steer the reader towards risky behaviour; that express subjective opinions on political, religious or similar matters; that promote a product, brand or service; that rest on claims without sources; or that were produced with artificial intelligence and not verified by the author.
